Last minute change...

We have a last minute change to the line-up for this weekend.

Unfortunately 'Megsdorf (HO)' has had to withdraw; however in it place we have 'Low Quay' from Society member & trustee Steve Routledge.

A 1950’s/1960’s fictional busy Western Region quayside
Low Quay started life at the beginning of the dreaded ‘lockdown’.
It all started with an idea to build a layout that would allow me to try out and experiment with modelling techniques and ideas. It had to be small enough to fit on the dining room table (my wife’s idea) to be able to carry on modelling through the cold of winter.
My main remit at the start of the project was to use as much material, track etc that I already had, and I have kept to this in the main. I wanted to bring some ‘life’ to the layout and have started with the basic electronic gizmo’s from MERG.
These took the forms of random lighting, gas light twinkling and arc welding simulations.
The atmosphere for the layout is the late 50’s/early 60’s post war industrial decline. Although designated as BR(W) region it could be just about any port town in the UK
The layout has recently received a scenic upgrade with more depth added to the rear.
The layout was never intended to be exhibited but after positive feed back from club members I took the plunge
I hope you enjoy my efforts.

A big thank you to Steve for stepping up at such short notice.
