One of the star attractions planned for the 2025 show is possibly the last exhibition appearance of one of the Societies best known and most successful layouts - "Barrowfleet".
This 4mm scale layout was originally a collaboration between the "Narrow Gauge" and "Modern Image" groups in the Society, and intended as a short term 'fill-in' between other projects, but like the best Rock Groups never quite seems to come to a natural end...
Representing the clay extraction industry on the banks of the River Humber, if features the internal 2ft gauge railway system of the brickworks in 009 (4mm/00 size on 9mm gauge track) and a section of the New Holland to Barton-upon-Humber branch in 00 gauge.
Barrowfleet hasn't been seen in public since 2018, but is still in full working order. At over 30 years old, it was felt now was the time for a well deserved retirement. The plan was for just two final appearances at York at Easter 2025 then the grand finale at our own Hull show, but a few other exhibitions on hearing of this have also made enquires, so a mini tour including selected other shows may be a possibility...
